Where are all the old timer experts from this Board??? I find myself answering questions from newcomers that I don't have experience on - hoping that the old timer's will follow up...We have a lot of new folks who are digging right in - fearless but needing guidance and asking great questions.
Where are you all? Please come back! We need you!

Can we convince some of you old-timer's to compile some of your info to put on the Chambers lovers website?
Suggestions:
A photo guide to the various models so we can see the variations?
A photo guide to the various thermowell pots/accessories, with dimensions of each?
Mark, can we convince you to put pics of your resto job back up so we can have those resources? You had done a great job, and those pics were a boon to us.
I'm awaiting a "C" manual from Todd and will shortly start getting into my stove. I've got a 90C that's going to be restored, a donor 90C that's got a backsplash I'm going to use and the rest of which will be parted out to fund the restoration of the first (the second one's in non-restorable shape, but it's got some parts that are e-bayable), and I got a B model that's in pretty good shape and which is going to provide me with a new storage compartment door, and which is going to get sold on ebay/craigslist once I swap out doors. Fun and games all over the place. :-)
I think this is a great resource, and as I run into issues and have to seek answers here, I plan to compile the problem-solving process into something that may be worth posting onto Todd's site. I do hope to get a working digital camera again soon, because I need to document what I'm doing.

I found someone with the photos that lowracer did - but without the verbage - and that is crucial, I think.
I want a library of restoration Blogs. This way when people "move on" the knowledge is still available to the next generations. I emailed Todd about it a while back but got no reply (yet).

What an interesting comment! Every member on this board is developing into an expert. You are becoming an Expert quicker than you think. The only way to keep this board and the restoration of old ranges going is to creat new Experts. When I had a real job, a major portion of it was to creat new experts. I passed my experience on to them, then sat back and allowed them to answer questions and solve problems. This gave them more confidence every time they answered a question and before long they were the Expert. This is what is developing on this board. I am not answering the questions that have already been answered and can be found by Searching the board. I think Todd is doing the same thing. You all Can and Will be an Expert if allowed to do so. The saving of all these vintage ranges must be done and every one on this board is a salesman for them.

Well, I am glad you are still here Stoveman! Are you still doing the thermostat rebuilds? I noticed that you are not advertising on eBay for anymore.

I am still have my Ebay Store. Ebay has changed the way it's search works, so lots of my items are not showing up. Lots of us sellers are very upset with ebay and are looking for other methods of reaching the public. I'm developing my own web store, but I have to learn by doing and this old dog does not do well with new tricks. I've got it up at theuncertainstoveman.com, but it is not taking orders because I haven't had the time or brains to get it going yet.
And check out the Chambers Literature here:

Sam - you are awesome! Wish I could have worked for you because I totally subscribe to your philosophy. It is important that we all take responsibility for searching and utilizing this vast wealth of information we have here on our site. The search feature is an important feature that I use over and over.
Phoebe - I would agree that the forum has not been hopping like it was a few months ago, but I don't think that is a permanent thing. Probably just the change of seasons has more people out of the house and away from their computers.

We'll all eventually become experts of one stripe or another, but unlike, say, tooling with VW bugs, once we get the stove restored and working, we hopefully won't need to tool about with it all that much, so our need to pop on this website lessens after we develop our expertise -- that's why it's so important that the info we share is preserved.

The search does not work very well. I have never done this before. I have a lot to learn. If I can not get the information that I need from the search engine within this website where do you suggest I go? I thought that this was a chambers discussion board? I am discussing my chambers! Further more should I find the information that I need on a search it is usually coupled with much more information that I do need. I can not remember all of it and have no way to bookmark it so that I can refer to it later. Sorry Stoveman, but you have been on this board for a long time and know where all information is and also created much of it. Which would make it really easy to find. You also have a lot of experience that the new kid does not have! Your philosophy works well in a business environment but does not work on this board! Ann

Please don't get upset with Sam. He is a great source and has been more than kind while sharing his knowledge and experience. That is the problem. If you read back through old posts, a lot of the information is repeated over and over again. I understand that people want answers put together in an easy format to find, but we don't have anyone that is paid to put this together, or can make this a full time job. It is summer time, the kids are home, many outdoor activities going on, vacations, etc. There is not as much time to spend on the computer.
Here is a suggestion. If you are reading through a post that has some information that you would like to keep/use, highlight it and copy it into a word document. Then you can print out just the information that you need, and save it for a later date.
